Dr David Whitehead
David Whitehead is a Specialty Doctor in Geriatric and Intermediate Care at St David’s Hospital, Cardiff, with over 15 years of clinical experience in elderly medicine. His current practice includes metabolic bone disease, frailty assessment, rehabilitation, and continence management, reflecting a broad and practical understanding of complex care in older adults. He has held senior roles across multiple NHS health boards, contributing to services in stroke rehabilitation, Parkinson’s disease, and general medical care for older people. Academically, he holds a master’s degree in Immunology and Allergy, and has published research in molecular endocrinology. As Programme Leader, David brings extensive teaching experience, having written course material and led modules in dementia, medication management, and metabolic bone medicine. He played a key role in securing academic accreditation for this MSc and has directed the programme since 2021. His clinical insight, educational leadership, and deep subject matter expertise make him ideally placed to guide students through the complexities of caring for older adults in modern healthcare.
