Biography
Dr. Bhaskar Gupta
Dr. Bhaskar Gupta is a Consultant Vitreo-Retinal Surgeon at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust and Medical Director of New Medica Eye Health Clinic and Surgical Centre. He holds Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth) and a Doctorate in Medicine (Research) from Cranfield University, where his work focused on visual impairment and diabetic retinopathy across ethnic groups in the UK. Dr. Gupta brings extensive surgical expertise with over 2,300 independent vitrectomy procedures and nearly 20,000 cataract surgeries to his credit. He specialises in complex vitreoretinal disorders, diabetic retinopathy, and high-volume cataract surgery.
As Principal Investigator for multiple clinical trials and author of over 65 peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Gupta maintains active involvement in ophthalmic research. He serves as an invited reviewer for leading journals including Survey of Ophthalmology and British Journal of Ophthalmology. His teaching credentials include training roles with the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and examination responsibilities, demonstrating his commitment to advancing ophthalmic education and maintaining professional standards in the field.
